One major component to a properly tuned and running engine is a carburetor choke kit that is in good working order. The original choke kits employed by the factory from 1967-1969 used a thermo spring type coil that would release as the engine warmed up to operating temperature. Over the span of 40+ years, these wear out or get tossed due to carburetor changes, other modifications, etc.
